President's Message

I must start this message by thanking Nassau County Police Commissioner Lawrence Mulvey, for honoring us by attending our last meeting.

Don't forget we will once again be honoring deceased members of the Armed Forces by placing the flags on the gravesites of our fallen heroes at L.I. National Cemetery (Wellwood Ave.) on Saturday May 24th. We will meet as usual at 0630hrs in Section 2A. Try to be there; it's sure to give you a good feeling.

Remember our Dinner/Dance is scheduled for Friday, April 25th there's still time to purchase tickets by calling the Shield's office @ 516-799-3944. We can use your support, and you'll be benefiting a good cause.

This will be the last opportunity you will have to enter your eligible child for a Shield's scholarship. Fill out the applications located in this paper and send it to Mike Villa to be eligible. The drawings will be at our meeting on the 24th.

On Saturday May3rd, the New York State FOP will be holding their annual Police Memorial in Hicksville. Try to be there as they remember those who have given their lives protecting the society they serve.

Thursday May 29 - Saturday May 31 we will once again volunteer our services at the Empire State Games for the Physically Challenged, being held at Mitchel Field Complex. (letter on page15) Be there to help a child there is no greater feeling.

Hope we get to see you on the 24th, Joe Wolff has promised us an interesting speaker. Please keep in your prayers the men and women defending our country overseas, and those in law enforcement. Wear your vest!
