President's Message

Welcome back, I hope everyone had a healthy and safe holiday. Now is the time to think of 2008 as it pertains to the Shield’s.

First, I would like to close 2007 business by thanking Mike Villa and his committee for a fine and successful Children’s Christmas Party. The kids were entertained from start to finish and thanks to Bob Forrester, Santa even made an appearance.

The applications for our 2008 scholarships are in this edition of the Call Box. Please fill them out and get them in ASAP if your child is eligible.

Speaking of scholarships, I would be remiss if I didn’t Thank Lt. Dennis Klein, Ret. Det. Laurie Molloy, Tim Motto, and the members of the 28Pct. for their continuous support of the Phil Cardillo Memorial Scholarship. I would also like to Thank Charlie Moran and the players in the 2008 Massapequa "Schmo Bowl" for their generous support of the Joan Petito Special Child Scholarship. They have played this game on Super Bowl Sunday every year since Joan passed away.

Membership Chairman, Lloyd Thomason reports that the 2008 dues are coming in at a good pace, and the raffle tickets @ $5 each or 3 for $10 are also doing well. The drawing will be held at the June meeting.

I am glad to report that once again this year we will be running a Dinner/Dance in conjunction with FOP Lodge #317 on Friday April 25th. Details are on page 7 of this Call Box. Emile Stucchio and The Classics will be the featured entertainment. Proceeds will be shared with 3 worthwhile organizations. Join us for a great time and support 3 fine organizations.
